SCANNING
There are 2 Espon scanners in the EiLAB
Four key steps
Plan
Select images or objects.
How will I use the image?
Will the image be displayed on a monitor? Printed?
Will I need to reuse the image for something else?
Capture
Position the image
Launch the scanner software - Open Photoshop. In the File menu, select import and then select epson scanner
Preview the scan - click the big preview button at the bottom
Select the scan area - in the preview window, drag a selection box around the area you want to scan.
Select scan mode - Line Art, Halftones, Grayscale, Color
Set the appropriate resolution - The density of dots that represent an image. Think grid.
Typical resolutions -
Monitor displays, either presentation software or web-based
Set resolution at
Mac platform = 96
PC platform = 72
Printed copy
Set resolution at 300
Set the scan image size - The larger the image size, the bigger the file size.
Set the resolution - The larger the value for resolution, the larger the file size.
Edit - Adjust and edit the scan as needed. Since this is your source, my suggestion is to only do editing that is neccesary for the quality of the scan.

File types
Print Formats
TIFF works for print.
BMP works with many windows image-editing applications.
Web Formats
GIF works for text and block color images.
JPEG works for pictures with lots of color variations.
Save and name the file. Make sure the file has the correct extension (name_of_the_file.jpg)
Save the file to a folder with your name on it, or to a removable drive.
Remember to delete the scanned files from the scanning computer when you are done. Make sure to retreive your original scanned object from the scan bed!
