This class is your opportunity to develop and focus your work. You are welcome to explore any facet, or combination, of digital art that you find interesting. We will attempt to refine your own personal aesthetic.
The class after each crit, i want a written statement about what you are intending to do for the next crit, how it will be presented, what you are trying to communicate, and who/what your influences are.
You must meet with me at least once between each crit.
There will be 4 critiques over the course of the semester. february 11, march 12 , april 9, april 30.
Your final portfolio will be graded on the quantity, quality, and development of all work completed for the class.
Some Possibilities or things to think about:
non-traditional output, analog->digital->analog
a new media for traditional art, painting, photography, sculpture
linear work: time-line based animation
interactive or non-static, non-linear piece
Create a 3 minute video/w sound using text and/or words as a primary component.
Redefine/question “print” as a concept in a piece that is “printed”
Make a piece using freeware or shareware or java applets on the web
Make a digital/multimedia piece that is accurately titled “24 Hours”
