1. Looking at the world through 3d glasses
The forefront of what could be called digital photorealism, 3d has come along way from the mirrored balls floating over tiled floors that marked its beginnings. It is still plagued by the human need to portray reality as accurately as possible, but as with photography and painting before, artists are slowly using it for expressive means instead of as a mirror. With the increase of processing power, 3d graphics are also beginning to seep across the spectrum of computer applications. 3d models, to various degrees, can be brought into photoshop, illustrator, flash, and after effects. adobe's latest version of acrobat allows you to manipulate 3d data. Regardless of what you intend to do with computers in the future, a working knowledge of 3d modeling and animation will come in handy. With this project (as with the rest of the projects), we are not aiming to become masters of any particular software, but to becomre aware of the various possibilities that computers offer for graphic production. So relax, explore, and have fun.
